Richelle’s beauty salon experience began as a child. She visited the salon once a week for her mom’s weekly up-do and fell in love. Her dream of owning her own salon came true in April 2000, when Shapes Salon & Studio opened. Richelle and Steven, her husband, had an early vision for the potential of Upper 15th Street, and picked this location before the building even existed. Today Richelle is still active in the neighborhood development and works closely with H.U.N.I (Highland United Neighbors Incorporated) and sees her salon as an integral part of the community. She is the driving force at Shapes, leading the way as the salon owner and by working behind the chair.
As both a teacher and student, Richelle is always driven to stay on top of her talent. She is a certified Schwarzkopf color educator and takes advantage of educational opportunities as well. She believes in having a strong educational focus so that she and her staff are continuously improving. She has attended several Bumble & bumble haircutting and business development classes in NYC. She also attended certification classes at Devachan Salon in NYC and is now a certified DevaCurl stylist who expertly specializes in curly hair. Richelle also offers a special coloring technique called “Pintura” which means “to paint.” Her loyal clientele proudly displays her multi-talents in hairstyling.
Richelle believes in the rejuvenation that a salon experience provides. She is a mother of two and understands the importance of taking time out for nurturing. She is proud to invite you to a salon visit at Shapes to experience this rejuvenation for yourself!
